Davenport Volleyball
WAYLAND, Mich. – Davenport head volleyball coach Megan Garner is pleased to announce the signing of her first recruit for 2012, Wayland High School senior Molly Lameyer. The 6'2 middle blocker will bring tremendous size and intensity to the Panther squad.
“We are so excited that Molly has chosen to attend Davenport,” remarked Garner. “I have known her for quite a few years now and she has grown into a very tough volleyball player and a wonderful young woman who we are proud to have in our program.”
As a junior, Molly earned All-State Honorable mention honors, along with being recognized on the OK Gold All-Conference team as well as the All-County team in Allegan. In 2010, she helped lead her team to a District Championship and a share of the OK Gold Championship.
In addition to playing volleyball at Wayland, Molly also is a member of the varsity basketball team and plays club volleyball for the combined Dead Frog/FaR Out volleyball club. This past summer she was a member of the DFFO 17 team that finished 11th in the 17 Open division at the AAU National Tournament.
“I am very, very happy that Molly will be at DU next year,” added Joe Steenhuysen, Molly's club volleyball coach. “I'm excited to watch her continue to progress as an athlete.”
For Molly her decision was based on many factors. “I love the campus, the team, the coach, pretty much everything about Davenport. It just felt like the right place for me.”
Molly plans to major in Sport Management at DU and will work to contribute in any way she can next year. “I'm looking forward to bringing my positive attitude to the program and making an impact toward a conference championship.”
