GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - South Christian senior, Marcey DeHaan, has become the second 2012 recruit for Davenport head coach Megan Garner. She joins Wayland senior Molly Lameyer who has already committed to the Panthers. DeHaan, a 5'11" middle blocker, will bring quickness and athleticism to the Panthers and hopes to be an immediate contributor.
"We are so excited to have Marcey signed on to join our program," remarked coach Garner. "She comes from a wonderful family and has a very bright future ahead of her in the sport of volleyball. She is a tremendous athlete and we look forward to having her talents in the DUVB family."
As a junior Marcey earned All-Conference Honorable Mention recognition in the OK Gold and has been working during her senior season for additional awards. She is poised to lead her team into their conference tournament this weekend against fellow recruit Molly Lameyer. She also brings club volleyball experience having played on the FaR Out 17 National team last season. Her season was highlighted by the 17 Club Championship at the 2011 Lakeshore Volleyfest.
Her high school coach, Allison Sagraves, is very pleased that Marcey has chosen to continue her volleyball career at Davenport. "It has been such a joy to coach Marcey and she is ready to take her game to the next level. We can't wait to watch her in the coming seasons and support her in this new endeavor."
For Marcey her choice came down to where she could continue to develop in the sport of volleyball and earn a great education. "Volleyball is my passion; It has gotten me to where I am today. I'm excited to get this opportunity to play at Davenport."
