GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Emma Matthew, a 5'10” senior at Forest Hills Eastern, has become the third signee for the 2012 Davenport women's volleyball team. She becomes the third player from the OK Gold to join the Panthers squad and brings championship caliber play to the Davenport volleyball program.
The four year varsity player has helped her team to at least a share of the OK Gold Championship the last four years. She plays middle blocker for the Hawks, but will train in all front row positions at DU. As a senior Emma earned All-Conference, All-Area, and All-Region honors.
Emma is so thankful to everyone who has shown support in her athletic career. “Davenport was my first choice and I'm so thankful to have this opportunity to play there.”
Head coach Megan Garner is excited to add Emma to her 2012 recruiting class. “Emma brings great competitiveness and passion to our program. She has developed into a very strong and versatile player and we are excited to help take her skills to the next level.”
At FHE Emma is also a member of the girl's basketball team and in past years she has participated with the Michigan Volleyball Academy during the club volleyball season. She plans to major in Sports Management at Davenport.
