GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A fourth player has been added to head coach Megan Garner's 2012 recruiting class for the Davenport women's volleyball program.  Sidney Rodriguez will join the Panthers in 2012 bringing with her state championship and national club experience.

Sidney was the libero for the Rockford Rams this season.  She capped off her career with a MHSAA Class A State Championship in November.  In her senior campaign she was All-Conference honorable mention in the OK Red.  In addition she was selected to the All-Region team.  Sidney also set two new school records while at Rockford; the first for digs in a game and the other for digs in a season.

“Sidney's been playing volleyball for quite a few years now and has developed into a great defensive player,” commented Coach Garner.  “We really enjoyed recruiting her this fall and watching her help her team win a state championship.  We can't wait to have her bring that experience to DU.”

Away from Rockford, Sidney participates in the combined Dead Frog and FaR Out volleyball club.  Last season she was a part of the DFFO 17 team that finished 11th at the AAU National tournament.  This year she is the libero on the DFFO 18 team.  All of her teammates are currently signed to play at NCAA Div. 1 colleges except one.

Although she is still undecided on a major, Sidney is looking forward to earning a degree from DU.  “I'm so excited to spend my next four years at Davenport!  I can't thank everyone that has helped me along the way enough!”

She will be joined by three other area recruits in 2012 – Molly Lameyer (Wayland), Marcey DeHaan (South Christian), and Emma Matthew (Forest Hills Eastern).
