Men’s Basketball Adds Point Guard Sean Hill to Recruiting Class

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport Men's Basketball team continues to add pieces to the puzzle for next year's team as they recently signed point guard Sean Hill. The transfer from Malcolm X Community College led his team to a 46-17 overall record the past two seasons under head coach Alric Karvell Bailey.

Coach Paddock and the DU basketball program have added another piece to the 2012-13 puzzle in 6'1 Junior College transfer Sean Hill.  Hill arrives after spending the past two seasons at Malcolm X Community College in Chicago under Head Coach Alric Karvell Bailey.

At Malcolm X, Sean proved to be a valuable member of the team at both ends of the floor.  He was in the top ten in the country in steals both seasons and during his last season led the team in assists and 3-pointers made while shooting over 36% outside the arc.  Sean averaged 14.2 pts, 6.0 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game.

“Sean is going to play a vital role in our success next season, said head coach Burt Paddock.  Sean is a good leader, competes incredibly hard and has a knack for winning games.  Sean has good length and size and is a very bouncy athlete.”

Sean adds to an already loaded recruiting class for Paddock and his staff as they are looking at taking the next step after a breakout 2011-12 in which the team captured their first ever WHAC title and conference tournament title while advancing to the Fab Four of the national tournament.

“My family and former coach at Malcolm X have played a big part in the recruiting process, said Hill. The coaching staff at Davenport stayed on me and have accepted me into their family and now I am ready to get things going.”

“As we recruited Sean, it was obvious he was going to be able to help us in a variety of ways.  He does many things on the court well which is evident by him having 2 triple doubles this past season.  We were very impressed when we saw him play nationally ranked South Suburban CC in which he posted a triple double of 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.”
