CANTON, Ohio - After receiving votes in the NAIA National Poll last week for the first time in program history the Lady Panthers continued their winning ways as they defeated Malone University today 8-0 and 12-1. Davenport is now 21-7 on the year and will begin conference play next week.

Game 1: Davenport - 8 Malone - 0 (5 Innings)

DU used two four run innings to propel them to a game one victory. Haley Stehouwer (Wyoming, Mich.) and Jessica Fagan (Spokane, Wash.) led off the game with back to back singles, followed up by another single from Kelsey Egyhazi (Mishawaka, Ind.) to load the bases. Ashlee Olsen (Rockford, Mich.) would then connect for a two RBI double followed up by another two RBI double from Morgan Greenfield (Wyoming, Mich.) to give DU the 4-0 lead.

The bats would stay quiet for the next three innings before DU pushed four more runs across in the top of the fifth inning. Fagan would score after a fielder's choice RBI from Kristina Krum (Kalamazoo, Mich.) followed up by a three run homerun from Greenfield to push the lead to 8-0.

Sam Cole (Belleville, Mich.) would earn the five inning shut-out giving up just four hits with three strikeouts. Fagan would finish the game 3-3, while Greenfield would go 2-3 with five RBI's, and Egyhazi would have two hits as well.

Game 2: Davenport - 12 Malone - 1

In the second half of the double header DU would jump out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning after a homerun from Katie Cornman (Eastpointe, Mich.), but Malone would cut the lead to just one heading into the fifth inning.

Up 2-1 the Panther bats would come back alive adding two runs in the fifth and then another in the sixth to go up 5-1. In the seventh inning Davenport would explode with seven straight hits and nine total in the inning to push seven runs across and give them the 12-1 victory.

Greenfield continued to stay hot as she was 3-4 with a triple, walk, and two RBI's. Heather Brusokas (Glendale, Calif.), Kristin Miedema (Newaygo, Mich.), Karlee Despres (Belmont, Mich.), Cornman, and Ali Dawson (Galesburg, Mich.) would each have two hits in the game.

Despres would get her second win of the year and Brianna Carpenter (Irvine, Calif.) would get her second save.
