MacKenzie VanDerWarf is this weeks Davenport Female Athlete of the Week after she led the women’s soccer team to an upset win over No. 6 Northwestern Ohio and handed the Racers their first loss of the season.
 
Northwestern Ohio came into the match up against Davenport sporting a 13-0-1 record and was 7-0-0 in the WHAC. The Racers also had shutout their last 12 opponents coming into the match up.
 
On Senior Day, the senior from Lowell, Mich. stood out for Davenport scoring two goals for the Panthers to end Northwestern Ohio’s shutout streak at 1183:42 after VanDerWarf scored the first goal of the match in the 70th minute and followed up with her second goal in 85th minute to clinch the upset victory.                      
 
The women’s soccer team will close out their regular season on Friday at 4 p.m. against Concordia in Ann Arbor, Mich.
