Dzenan Catic was named the Davenport Male Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this year after he led the men’s soccer team to their second straight WHAC Tournament title. In the two wins this week Catic tallied four goals.
 
In the semifinals against Madonna on Tuesday, Catic started the scoring in the match with 58 seconds left in the first half to give DU a 1-0 lead. After the Crusaders tied the game early in the second half Catic came right back to score the game winning goal added an insurance goal for the Panthers in the 4-1 over Madonna.
 
On Friday, Davenport faced Northwestern Ohio on the road for the conference championship. In a defensive battle, Catic scored the only goal of the match to clinch the WHAC Championship in the 66th minute of the match.
 
The men’s soccer team will now wait to see whom they will play in the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round on Saturday.
