Redhawks Dominate After 1st Period; Defeat Panthers 7-2

Nov. 16, 2007

Tonight's match-up between the Panthers and Redhawks of Miami (OH) was supposed to be a contest between the top two point scorers in the GMHL. Davenport took a 1-0 lead into the 1st Intermission, but after that it was all Redhawks as they cruised to a 7-2 victory at Patterson Ice Center. The loss is DU's 3rd straight and first in conference play as they drop to 9-5-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the GMHL. The two teams traded power plays in the first period with neither team finding the back of the net until Jonah Rogowski put away a pass from Chad Anguilm at the 6:36 mark at full-strength. The first period then ended in some controversy as Panthers defenseman Bill McSween was thrown out of the game after a run-in with a Redhawk player. The Miami (OH) player took out Panthers goaltender Chris Joswiak and nothing was called on their behalf and the Panthers would have to go about the rest of the game without one of their top defensive players. Billy was missed dearly in the final two periods as the Redhawks posted seven goals against just one from the Panthers to take the first of two games this weekend. Game time is set for 3:00 PM on Saturday afternoon at Patterson Ice Center and will also be broadcast on Internet Radio by Paul Stabile. Click on the link below to listen live.
