DAVENPORT UNIVERSITY PANTHERS

Panthers Sweep Ohio State with 8-4 Victory

Dec. 8, 2007

Grand Rapids, Mich. - The second game of the two game series on Saturday December 8 started out much different than the night before. The Panthers came out on fire with a high level of intensity with strong forchecking and solid defensive hockey.

The Panthers scored the first four goals of the game in an eight minute stand. Kevin Doyle notched the first two goals with the first assisted by Jeff Kraemer and Chad Anguilm. His second tally was assisted by Jonah Rogowski and Dayne Gluting. Davenport's third goal was scored by All American transfer from Wagner College, Dayne Gluting and was assisted by line-mates Kevin Doyle and Rogowski. Rick Gadwa scored his second in two nights off beautiful passing from Bill McSween and Gluting. Ohio State finally got on the board with a goal from Brock Bookwalter at the 8:30 mark of the first period. The Panther's answered right back with a goal from Will Collar assisted by Kevin Moodie and Kenny Jacobs. The period ended with Davenport in full control at 5-1.

The second period was owned by the referee with 16 penalties called including a 10 minute misconduct (which he had to serve) to Davenport freshman goaltender Eddie Wheeler. The scoreless second period seemed to never end.

The third period was one that DU would like to forget as they were assessed the first eight penalties. Ohio State took advantage of the situation and capitalized on the calls scoring three of the next four goals on the power play to bring them within two at 6-4. The Panthers scored two late goals to extend their lead and eventually winning 8-4. Panther goals in third period were scored by Chad Anguilm (assisted by Jeff Kraemer and Adam Thomas), Adam Thomas (assisted by Kevin Doyle and Jeff Kraemer) and Chris Green (assisted by Bobby Collar and Chris Joswiak).

The Panther's will host Depaul University next weekend December 14/15. Remember Saturday's afternoon game at 3:00 pm is "Duster Weekend". Your Panthers hockey players and coaching staff will all be wearing moustaches and ugly sweaters. The Panthers will be accepting your old sweaters and jackets for donation. Anyone who donates a jacket for charity will receive free entrance into the game. The Panthers are hoping to donate 200 jackets to local charities.
