Southfield, Mich. - The D3 hockey lost to Lawrence Tech 8-3 on Saturday night. The Panthers could never recover after giving up four goals in the first period.
Lawrence Tech started out the game hot as they scored two goals early in the first period. The Panthers answered back with 6:02 to go in the period to cut the lead to just one. Sam Waldhart was credited with the goal from teammates Jordan Steger and Mike Buwolda. The one goal deficit didn't last for long however, as Lawrence Tech added two more goals late to go up 4-1 heading into the second period.
Being down 4-1, DU came out hot at the beginning of the period as they scored two goals in the first two minutes. Jason Kraemer started the scoring assisted by Sam Waldhart, and Adam Tomacari added another goal from Mike Buwolda cutting Lawrence Tech's lead to just one. Unfortunately it would be all Lawrence Tech from there. They added three more goals in the period and then one more in the third to walk away with an 8-3 win over the Panthers. The Panther coaching staff credited the loss to a lack of consistency on the ice and also too many penalties in the game.
The Panthers fall to 6-7 on the season and will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Robert Morris for two games, and then host Delta College on Sunday.
