Knoxville, Tenn. - The Panthers suffered losses to both Florida Gulf Coast, 3-0, and Tennessee University, 4-1, this past weekend.
On Friday night the Panthers started off the weekend with a tough Florida Gulf Coast team who came in 12-2 on the season. With the addition of new players to their roster and others back from injury DU looked to get back on the winning track. Luke Bonnewell was in the net for the Panthers as they battled hard all game but were unable to shut down the Eagles offense. Davenport gave up two goals throughout the game and one in the closing minutes as they pulled their goalie in order to score a last second goal, losing 3-0.
The following night the Panthers took on the host team, Tennessee University, in which they lost 4-1. The game started out well for Davenport as they took the lead early with a goal by Chad Ouellette, assisted by Adam Tomacari and Mike Bowolda. However they could not hold on for long as they gave up key power play goals and lost 4-1 to the Vols.
Currently DU is 3-6 on the season and will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Lansing, Mich. to take on Lansing Community College at 8:00pm. The D3 hockey team is currently collecting canned goods to donate to families in need over the holiday season. Their goal is 2,000 canned goods and donations are being taken at the DU Student Center and also Patterson Ice Arena.
