Box Score

Grand Rapids, Mich. - After seeing their 18 game winning streak and 27th overall in the program snapped the night before, the Panthers rallied for an impressive 7-2 victory over Liberty on Sunday afternoon.

The Flames came prepared on Saturday to take on the best the ACHA D2 had to offer and escaped with a 5-4 overtime victory, but on Sunday, the Panthers fought right back to even the season series with a convincing 7-2 win.

Liberty used their momentum from the night before to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission, but something started to click for the host Panthers as Brit Ouellette got things going for DU on a breakaway goal from Jeff Kraemer early in the second.

Davenport would then pour it on for the remainder of the period with three more goals coming from Rick Gadwa (Collar and Doyle), and Adam Thomas who posted two to give DU a 4-2 lead with just twenty minutes remaining.

Eric Troup gave the Panthers a three goal lead on a nice one-timer from Kraemer and Mitch Kane and the final two goals were scored by Ben Dykstra and Jeremy Barber as Davenport posted seven unanswered goals for a 7-2 victory and a series split.

Eddie Wheeler was solid in net after giving up the two first period goals making 26 saves on the night. Davenport really kicked it into high gear on the offensive side as they outshot the Flames 42-28.

The Panthers will return to action on Friday, November 28 when they travel to UM Dearborn to compete in the East-West Classic where they will take on Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan and UM Dearborn over the weekend.
