Grand Rapids, Mich. - The rookies continue to play a big part in the early success of the ACHA D2 hockey program as Dan Reaume led Davenport with four goals tonight in their 4-1 win over Michigan State.
The Panthers had not played a game in seven days but the rust was not evident tonight as Davenport played a solid all-around game for their 4th GMHL victory of the year and 15th straight to open the season.
The Panthers struck one time each in the first two periods and took a 2-0 lead into the final intermission. Dan Reaume posted both goals in the first 40 minutes and would go on to add two more in the 3rd period while the defense kept the Spartans in check. Chris Joswiak was solid in net once again as he posted the victory.
The win lifts DU to 15-0 on the year and 4-0 in league play. The Panthers will play arch-rival Oakland University on Saturday night at Patterson Ice Center. The first of two games this year against the ACHA D1 Grizzlies will mark the opening of the "Good Luck Duck" series that Davenport claimed a year ago.
