Box Score

Grand Rapids, Mich. - Eddie Wheeler was on top of his game tonight as he did not let a single shot by him and helped DU to a 5-0 win against ACHA D1 Oakland University.

The Panthers claimed the first game in the "Good Luck Duck" Series with a dominating performance at Patterson Ice Center on Saturday night.

Jonah Rogowski got the scoring going in the opening period about halfway through when he hooked up with Bobby Collar and Rick Gadwa to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. DU would strike again with under two minutes to play as Adam Thomas pounded home a rebound off the sticks of Jeff Kraemer and Dan Reaume. DU was outshot in the 1st period 12-10 but made theirs count and took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

Davenport came out hot in the second period and went up 3-0 on a Bobby Collar goal just 1:30 in. Thomas would then add his second goal of the game at the 10:46 mark to give the Panthers a commanding 4-0 lead after 40 minutes of play.

Jonah Rogowski would add his second goal of the game in the final period that was a very heated one between the two rivals. Rick Gadwa and Eric Troupe would receive game misconducts down the stretch as did a Grizzlies player and the game ended in a 5-0 win for the Panthers.

The win lifts DU to 16-0-0 on the year and the victory is also the 25th overall dating back to last season. The Panthers will return to the ice next Friday when they travel to Miami (OH) for a two game series with the Red Hawks. Last season, Miami took 3 points from the Panthers in their two GMHL games.
