COLUMBUS, Ohio - Davenport got back on the winning track tonight as they traveled to Columbus and posted a 7-3 victory over Ohio State. The win lifts DU to 23-2 on the year and 7-1 in the GMHL
The first period was a back and forth affair as the Panthers posted the first two goals from Brit Ouellette and Ben Dykstra before watching the host Buckeyes come right back to tie the game. Bobby Collar then scored a late goal to give DU a 3-2 lead heading into the first intermission.
Ohio State opened the scoring in the second period to even the game at 3-3 but it would be the last goal of the game for the Buckeyes as Davenport finished on a 4-0 run. Rick Gadwa scored what would finish as the game winner on a perfect pass from Collar and then Kevin Brojek then followed with his own goal for a 5-3 Panthers lead with just under twenty seconds remaining in the 2nd.
DU would go on to add two more goals in the final period as Gadwa added his second of the game and Brandon Davis found the back of the net for the final goal of the game.
DU will look to sweep the season series on Saturday when they take on the Buckeyes at 5:15 PM in Columbus.
