Carmel, Ind. - The Panthers found themselves up against a very familiar foe in the GMHL Semifinals this morning as they faced off against Michigan State University. After a slow start, the DU offense found its way and scored six goals in the 2nd and 3rd periods to down the Spartans 7-4. DU will take on GVSU in the GMHL Finals tonight at 7:00 PM.
The offenses for both teams were hot all day except for the Panthers in the opening period. MSU used a few extra man advantages to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission and it was there that Davenport re-grouped to come out on fire in the second.
Davenport scored three goals in the second and then three more in the third to win the game 7-4. Adam Thomas scored the game winner early in the third period in route to a hat-trick for the All-American.
The win lifts the Panthers into tonight's GMHL finals as they will take on Grand Valley State and try to win their third straight GMHL Tourney Title. Game time is set for 7:00 PM and can be heard on Michigan Sports Radio.
