Panthers Open Spring Season in 1st Place After Day One at St. Francis

April 11, 2008

Complete Results from Day One

Kendalville, Ind. - After claiming its 2nd straight WHAC Championship in the fall, the Panthers are underway this spring in hopes of making it to the NAIA National Tournament. A shaky 1st round of 309 still finds DU out in front as they lead by six heading into the second round tomorrow at the St. Francis Tournament.

DU was scheduled to play their first event not until Monday in Indianapolis but an opening allowed them to get out on the links a few days earlier. The weather was not the greatest and the rust was definitly apparent as DU managed to shoot only a 309. The finish puts them in front of the field as many teams from the conference and region are being represented.

Adam Thomas fired a 74 and was followed in scoring by Nick Boone (76), Kale Waaso (77) and Dan Moulton (82) and Zac Bested (85). Individual golfer Kevin Palmer fired a 77.

Davenport, ranked #16 in the latest NAIA Poll, leads the pack of nine teams with a team score of 309 and was followed by Huntington (315) and Madonna (316).
