LANSING, Mich. - After a long layoff, the D2 Hockey Team returned to action today and dropped a tough game to rival Michigan State 6-1 in GMHL Action. The loss is just the third of the year for Davenport as they fall to 25-3.
Davenport dominated the offensive zones and the shots in the game but Michigan State scored when it had the chances and made 6 of their 18 shots on goal.
The Panthers struggled to get anything by the Spartans goaltender as they outshot MSU 36-18, but only one found the back of the net.
Davenport now falls to 8-2 in conference play as they have lost two of their past two to GMHL foes Ferris State and Michigan State.
The Panthers will return to action on Friday, January 16 when they travel to Lynchburg, VA for a two game series with Liberty University. The Flames were the first team to defeat DU this year and the Panthers will be looking to rebound from this tough GMHL loss.
