UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The D3 Hockey team posted their most impressive win in their inaugural season tonight as they defeated #1 ranked Saginaw Valley State on the road. The win lifts DU to 15-13 on the year and should move the Panthers up in the Regional standings.

After a back and forth first period, the Panthers battled the Cardinals to a 1-1 tie heading into the first intermission. Adam Tomacari scored the lone first period goal for the Panthers from Chad Ouellette and Taylor Keyworth. DU had a couple of other chances to take the lead but the momentum was on their side.

Saginaw opened the second period with two straight goals to take a 3-1 lead only to see the Panthers score two unanswered goals from Mike Buwolda and Ross Hinkle in the last ten minutes to tie the score at 3-3 going into the final period.

With a victory in their site, the Panthers came out hot again in the final 20 minutes and took a 5-4 lead with less than five minutes to play. Ouellette and Buwolda were credited with the two goals. After an empty net goal by Jordan Steger with 2:20 remaining, the Panthers finished with a 6-4 victory over Saginaw.
