GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Zack Feher (Livonia, Mich.) and Norm Farr (Jenison, Mich.) combined for eight points (4 each) on the night to give the D3 Hockey team a 7-3 victory over Lake Superior State. The Panthers have won their last 6 games and are now 8-3 on the year.
In the first period of play Lake Superior State scored in the first minute of play to go up 1-0. Davenport would then answer back with a goal by Feher, assisted by Farr. LSSU would put another puck in the net, before DU would add three more goals to end the period with a 4-2 lead. Jake Williams (Jenison, Mich.), Feher, and Farr accounted for the last three goals.
LSSU would strike first again in the 2nd but with the time ticking down at the end of the period DU would score its 5th goal, Michael Stedman (Riverside, Ont.) from Justin Welker (Speedway, Ind.), to go into the 3rd with a 5-3 lead.
The last period was all Davenport. Zack Feher would complete his hat trick with a power play goal from Sam Waldhart (Walker, Mich.). Farr would then follow with his fourth point of the game when he scored off a pass from Jason Kraemer (Livonia, Mich.), to put the game at 7-3. Zach Higgins (Courtice, Ont.) would earn the victory in net for the Panthers.
DU out-shot the Lakers, 39-28 on the night and was 2-6 (33%) on power play chances.
The Panthers will be back on action on Friday when they travel to Rochester, Mich. to take Oakland University in a MCHC match. Game time is set for 7:15pm.
