HUDSONVILLE, Mich. - After a 4-1 non-conference loss to GVSU on Friday night, the D3 team hoped to gain the upperhand in the MCHC race but they fell by the score of 6-2 to the Lakers on Saturday in Hudsonville. DU will host Adrian on Sunday afternoon.

Friday's game was controlled by the host Lakers from the get go as they took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. DU net-minder Zach Higgins (Courtice, Ontario) was solid in net for the Panthers but the offense struggled to keep with GVSU.

The Lakers scored three more times in the final two periods to take the win as DU got their only goal from Mike Buwolda (Holland, Mich.).

In Saturday night's MCHC contest the Panthers again struggled early as the Lakers used their strong attack to lead 2-0 after the first period.

DU did come back with a goal in the second from Michael Stedman (Riverside, Ontario) on an assist from Jordan Phillips (Swartz Creek, Mich.) but GVSU extended their lead to 4-1 heading into the final 20 minutes.

Davenport scored again in the 3rd on a nice play from Chad Ouellette (Windsor, Ontario) on a pass from Ben Duthler (Grand Rapids, Mich.) but it was not enough as the host team scored twice more for the final outcome of 6-2.

DU will host Adrian College on Sunday at 12:00 PM. The game can be heard on the DAN with a pre-game show at 11:45 AM.
