ROCHESTER, Mich. - Davenport's D3 hockey team captured its seventh win in a row last night with a 4-3 victory over Oakland University. The Panthers are now 9-3 on the year and 6-2 in MCHC Conference play.

The first period was full of defense for both teams, leaving the score at 0-0 heading into the second.

Oakland struck first going up 1-0 but DU quickly answered back with a goal 45 seconds later from Ben Duthler (Grand Rapids, Mich.), assisted by Jordan Steger (Caledonia, Mich.). With the game tied at 1-1, Oakland was able to get two more goals before the end of the period to go up 3-1.

After a motivational talk from Head Coach Chris Green, the Panthers came out strong in the third scoring three goals and shutting down the Grizzly offense. Steger was credited with the first goal unassisted, followed up by Taylor Keyworth (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Garrett Russell (Midland, Mich.).

DU is now 3-1 all-time against Oakland and will complete the season series with them tonight at Patterson Ice Center. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
