TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - In their third meeting in just over two weeks, Davenport skated to a 7-4 win over Delta College. The win lifts the Panthers to 13-6 on the year as they have two more games remaining in the Traverse City Tournament.
Davenport got on the board first against Delta as Chad Ouellette (Windsor, Ontario) recorded his fourth goal in the last two games. DU followed it up with a second goal from Sam Waldhart (Walker, Mich.) as Norm Farr (Jenison, Mich.) and Taylor Keyworth (Grand Rapids, Mich.) were credited with the assists.
A late defensive stop by the Panthers made the score 2-0 after 20 minutes. Jordan Steger (Caledonia, Mich.) then opened up a three goal period in the second which was closely followed by a goal from Keyworth to extend the lead to 4-0.
Delta then scored late in the period, but DU got it right back with their fifth goal of the game from Zack Feher (Livonia, Mich.) who scored on a breakaway to give the Panthers a 5-1 edge.
Mac Worsley (Grand Rapids, Mich.) got into the scoring early in the third period when he connected with Keyworth and Micheal Stedman (Riverside, Ontario) to put DU up 6-1. Delta did not back down though and scored three straight goals with the last coming on a power play to cut the DU lead to just two at 6-4.
Jordan Steger then ended any rally that Delta had planned as he scored his second of the game to ice the 7-4 win.
DU improves to 13-6 on the year and will take on Northwood University on Friday in an important regional ranking game.
