Box Score

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Eight Davenport seniors were honored before the game and then took the ice where they dominated archrival Oakland University. Rick Gadwa, Kevin Doyle and Jeff Kraemer combine to post 12 points on the day as DU swept the season series with the Grizzlies.

After winning the night before to hold onto the "Good Luck Duck" for at least another year, Davenport returned home for their final matchup against Oakland on Saturday night. In a game that will be aired on local comcast soon, the Panther seniors went out in style as they cruised to the 7-1 win.

After a back and forth first period that saw each team have limited opportunities, Davenport got on the board with just 19 seconds remaining in the first period when Rick Gadwa found Kevin Doyle to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

The Panthers then struck twice in the second period as Brit Ouellette and Gadwa each scored a goal and DU led by three entering the final 20 minutes.

With all the momentum on their side, the Panthers opened the period with two quick goals at the 19:44 and 14:43 marks as Jeff Kraemer got into the scoring and Gadwa added his second of the game. After a goal by the Grizzlies ended the shutout, Gadwa then scored his third for a hat-trick and a 6-1 DU lead. Jeremy Barber would add his lone goal of the game with only 2:28 remaining and DU cruised to their 33rd win on the year.

Davenport will take on Adrian College this weekend in their final home game on Saturday, a night after competing in Adrian. They have also rescheduled a GMHL game against Michigan for March 3 that will ultimately decide if Davenport will claim its fourth straight regular season championship.
