HUDSONVILLE, Mich. - Davenport got three goals in the first and added four more in the third to cruise to an opening pool play victory over Miami (OH) today 7-1. The Panthers will hit the ice tomorrow against Colorado who defeat the last Pool D team William Paterson this morning.

After outscoring their opponents 40-9 in last year's National Tournament, the Panthers got off to almost exactly the same start this season as they opened up a 3-0 lead in the opening 14:00 of play. Kevin Brojek started things off with a power play goal at the 15:37 mark that was quickly followed by Adam Thomas scoring an even strength goal only 2:54 later. Kevin Moodie added the last goal of the period on a breakaway goal as the Panthers were shorthanded.

The second period saw DU get outskated and it led to the only RedHawks goal of the game as the coaching staff was not very happy with the intensity.

That quickly changed as DU opened the third period with two goals in the first 2:00 from Jeremy Barber and Jonah Rogowski and later added two more from Barber and Adam Thomas to seal a convincing 7-1 victory.

Davenport was led on defense by net-minder Chris Joswiak who allowed only one goal on the day.

The Panthers will return to the ice to take on Colorado who is the other undefeated team in their pool. The Buffaloes posted a big comeback win this morning over William Paterson in the first game of the tournament.

Game time between Davenport and Colorado is set for 7:00 PM at Georgetown Ice Center.
