GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport Panthers will meet the Grand Valley State Lakers tonight in the GMHL Tournament Championship game. DU advanced to the 8:00 finals with a 6-1 win over Miami and GVSU secured their spot in the finals with a 4-0 blanking of Michigan State.

For the second straight year, the Panthers and Lakers will battle for the GMHL Tournament title. Davenport dominated the Miami RedHawks this morning in the semifinals as they scored all of their goals unanswered after falling behind 1-0.

Davenport recovered to post three goals in the first, two more in the second and a final one in the last period for the victory.

Eddie Wheeler got the win in net as he was solid all-around and the Panthers defense stepped up to the challenge by killing off numerous power play opportunities for the RedHawks.

DU now has a seven game winning streak heading into tonight's final against GVSU. The Panthers have won all four meetings this year by outscoring the Lakers 24-10.
