Box Score

Jan. 31, 2010

JACKSON, Mich. - After a big win last night against Grand Valley State, the Panthers stayed hot as they shutout Jackson CC, 9-0. DU is now 22-7 and 8-4 in MCHC action.

In the first period both teams got off to a slow start. DU would push one goal through from Jared Folkringa (Marne, Mich.), which was assisted by Taylor Keyworth (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Jason Kraemer (Livonia, Mich.). The Panther defense would shut down the Jackson CC offense to go into the locker room up 1-0 at the end of the first.

The next two periods would be all Davenport as they would score 4 goals in the second and 5 more in the third. Six different Panthers would push the puck through the net, as DU would cruise to the 9-0 victory.

All but the last two goals were scored at even strength on the ice, with the 8th goal being short handed, and the ninth goal being on a power play for DU. Panthers credited with goals in the second and third periods were: Mac Worsley (Grand Rapids, Mich.), Teddy VanVliet ( Jenison, Mich.), Norm Farr (Jenison, Mich.), Sam Waldhart (Walker, Mich.), Andy Holtrop (Walker, Mich.), and Joe Kraemer (Livonia, Mich.).

Matt Sekosan (Sterling Heights, Mich.) would earn the shut-out victory in net, his third of the year, and improve his win record to 17.

Davenport will be back in action next weekend when they square off against MCHC opponent Hope College. With victories next weekend the Panthers are hoping to move up in the regional rankings and earn a bid to the national tournament.

Davenport will be at Hope on February 5th, before returning back to Patterson Ice Center on Saturday, February 6th for a 7:00pm game.
