#2 Lady Panthers Pick up 10th Win in a Row with 95-48 Win over Dearborn

Davenport led by 20 (46-26) at halftime and extended it to 39 in first five minutes of 2nd half

DEARBORN, Mich. – Davenport picked up its 10th straight win to open the season tonight as they defeated host UM-Dearborn by the score of 95-48. The #2 ranked Lady Panthers will welcome Indiana Tech to the Student Center on Saturday at 3:00pm.

Kristi Boehm (Kent City, Mich.) and Julie Janish (Whittemore, Mich.) led the Lady Panthers (10-0 overall) in scoring with 12 points each while Kallie Benike (Campbellsport, Wis.) posted a line of 9 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in the win.

The Wolves started the first half by slowing the game down but a 7-1 spurt with 13:00 remaining gave Davenport an 11-6 lead and they never looked back en route to a 46-26 margin at halftime.

Leading DU in the opening half were Julie Janish (Whittemore, Mich.) and Carrie Grubius (Kalamazoo, Mich.) who each finished with 8 points as the junior combo shot 5-10 from the field and 4-4 from the charity stripe.

DU built on their lead early in the second half pushing it to as many as 34 in the first five minutes as DU scored 23 of the first 32 points to lead 69-35.

A basket by Karlee Despres (Belmont, Mich.) with 1:00 remaining gave DU the largest lead of the game (47) as they improved to 5-1 in WHAC openers. DU now has an overall record of 62-9 in league play since they joined the WHAC in 2005.

The team finished the night shooting 44 % (38-86) from the floor and posted 27 assists and 25 steals in the game.

DU will open their conference home slate on Saturday when they welcome Indiana Tech to the Student Center for a 3:00pm matchup.

Post-Game Notes

When DU makes less free-throws than their opponent their record is now 105-36 all-time...Davenport is now 109-31 in their 9 years against teams from the state of Michigan...The Lady Panthers have won 5 consecutive WHAC openers after dropping their first one in 2005...When DU holds their opponent to under 60 points, their record is now 68-4
