MIDLAND, Mich. - For the second straight weekend in the post-season, the D3 Hockey team has defeated Oakland University. DU posted an 8-3 win over the Grizzlies on Thursday night to move into the MCHC Semifinals against Hope tonight.

DU fell behind after the first period 2-1 but got their lone goal from Josh Edwards (Dorr, Mich.) to stay within striking distance of the Grizzlies whom they beat last weekend to earn their first berth to the National Tournament.

The offense came out hot in the second while only allowing a single goal as the Panthers took a commanding 5-2 lead into the final intermission.

Scoring for DU was Jordan Steger (Caledonia, Mich.) from Michael Stedman (Riverside, Ontario), Norm Farr (Jenison, Mich.) on an un-assisted goal, Teddy VanVliet (Byron Center, Mich.) from Brandon Madaj (Newaygo, Mich.) and Farr again from Justin Welker (Speedway, Ind.) and Zack Feher (Livonia, Mich.)

Davenport added three more goals in the third as Madaj scored followed by Welker and Jared Folkringa (Marne, Mich.)

DU will play the top seed, Hope College, on Friday night at 7:15 PM. The winner will take on the winner of the GVSU vs. Saginaw Valley semifinal.
