Webber International Pulls Out 5-4 Win over Women's Tennis

BABSON PARK, Fla. - In their second match of the spring break trip in Florida, the Lady Panthers fell by the slimmest of margins as host Webber International pulled out a 5-4 win over Davenport. The team will face Concordia College of Minnesota at 1:00 on Wednesday.

After winning their opening match of the trip 7-2 over Southeastern, the team looked to make it 2-0 but a few close matches went to the host Warriors and DU fell 5-4.

In doubles competition, Davenport got a leg up by holding a 2-1 advantage.  DU received wins from the #1 doubles team of Diana Favela and Denisse Favela (San Luis Potosi, Mexico) 8-4.  The #2 doubles team of Stephanie Fortney and Erin Hossack (Dearborn, Mich.) also won by the final score of 8-4.

Unfortunately the only two singles matches that Davenport was able to pull off were #1 from Diana Favela (San Luis Potosi, Mexico)a and #3 Stephanie Fortney (Allegan, Mich.).

At #4 singles, Kristi Kuzdal (Grandville, Mich.) played the longest match of the day but ultimately fell by the scores of 7-6 (1-0), 4-6, 7-5.

DU will meet Concordia College (Minn.) today at 1:00pm.
