LOCKPORT, Ill. - Playing in their first NAIA National Tournament qualifier, the Lady Panthers struggled against McKendree University as they fell 5-3. Davenport ends their season with an overall mark of 11-13 and will return all six student-athletes next season.
After getting word from the NAIA that they received an at-large bid to the unaffiliated qualifier, head coach
Patrick Grashorn got his Lady Panthers ready to face McKendree University. The match took place in Lockport, Ill. just outside of Chicago.
Davenport got off to a slow start in doubles play as they went 1-2 with their lone winning coming at No. 3 from the team of
Kristi Kuzdal and
Kelly Todd with an 8-1 win.
The Lady Panthers then got to singles but were unable to overcome the deficit as they fell 5-3 overall. Picking up wins in singles play were
Erin Hossack with a 6-1, 6-3 win and Todd with a 6-1, 6-4 victory.
The season ends with an 11-13 overall mark.
