GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A busy week lies ahead for the 12th-ranked Davenport women's basketball team. Before heading west for two games this weekend, the Lady Panthers will host archrival Cornerstone in a Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference showdown Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Following the women's basketball matchup, the men's teams will go head-to-head for a scheduled 7:30 p.m. start.

The Lady Panthers showed newcomer Marygrove how tough the WHAC could be in their 101-48 victory last weekend. More than five Lady Panthers reached double figures in points for the third consecutive game, Emily Nielsen led the group last Saturday by scoring a career-best 16 points. She and Karli Harris are the only players to score more than 10 points in all three games. The bench also became major contributors to the game, scoring 48 points. Linnea Brandholm led the bench with a career-high 15 points – including four 3-pointers – while freshman Tiesha Stokes, in her second game, recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds for the team's first double-double of the season. Kayla Gross (14), Harris (12) and Kendra Cook (11) were the other three to tally more than 10 points.

Cornerstone is in a new era with former WNBA player Katie Mattera as the new head coach. Robyn Veltkamp and Jill Hendrickson have been the leaders of the team this young season. Veltkamp paces the team with 19 points per game with Hendrickson right behind her averaging 11.5. On the rebounding column, Hendrickson leads the club averaging 8.3 while Veltkamp follows with 6.8.
