GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –
Karli Harris scored a season-high 21 points,
Tiesha Stokes added 14 and
Leah Sevcik had 10 as they helped the 12
th-ranked Davenport women's basketball team roll past its archrival Cornerstone 69-39 in a Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup Tuesday evening.
Sevcik led the effort on the rebounding category with seven and was followed by Stokes with five. Harris also continues to be aggressive on the steals, as the senior has recorded five for the fourth straight game. Davenport's bench also served as major contributors to the game, outscoring Cornerstone's bench 33-7.
The only two lead changes in the game were in the first three minutes. With the game tied 5-5 with 16:32 left,
Kia Frazier broke the ice by scoring six points to help build the lead. Despite the Golden Eagles cutting the lead to two with 13:30 left, the combination of Harris, Sevcik,
Kendra Cook,
Emily Nielsen and
Brianne Woycehoski would build the Lady Panthers a 31-13 lead with 6:48 left, the largest deficit in the half.
Entering the second half with a 37-21 lead, the Lady Panthers never looked to be finished as they scored 32 points. Stokes paced the team in the latter half with 10 points with Harris right behind her with nine.
The Lady Panthers will jump on a plane and head west to California for two games after Thanksgiving. They will play Concordia (Calif.) at 8 p.m. Friday and at San Diego Christian Saturday at 8:30 p.m. All start times are Eastern.
