GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After opening the 2012-13 season at home with a victory, the 12
th-ranked Davenport women's basketball team hits the road for the first time Saturday as it takes on NCAA Division II Northern Michigan for a 6 p.m. tipoff. Saturday's matchup can be considered as a final tune-up for the Lady Panthers before their Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference title defense begins next week.

While Williams said before the season started that Cardinal Stritch was not going to an easy opponent, Northern Michigan is no different. The Wildcats, which were picked to finish fourth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference North Division preseason poll, open their season Saturday reloading with some new talent to go with their leaders, sophomores Alyssa Colla and Courtney Lemon. In their rookie season, Colla averaged 8.7 points per game while Lemon averaged 7.6 points and 4.1 rebounds.
