MARQUETTE, Mich. – Coming off recording her first career hat trick Saturday night, freshman
Lexie Boydston did it again less than 24 hours later and added one more for a four-game morning to lead the Davenport women's hockey team to a 7-3 victory at Northern Michigan Sunday.
Chantal Caraher also continues to stay hot as she scored one goal but tallied four assists while
Darian Adams had a one goal, two assist performance.
Caraher got Panthers on the board with a power play and Boydston added two more just by the end of the first period. The freshman completed the hat trick day scoring 31 seconds into the second period. Adams followed with her only goal less than two minutes later with help from Caraher.
Boydston completed the four-goal day with eight minutes left from Adams and Caraher to give DU a 6-1 lead.
Tara Boliard would score her first career goal, also the first for a DU defenseman, on an unassisted rush two minutes into the third period to push the lead to 7-1. Northern Michigan would score two goals, one on even strength and the other on the power play, to complete the 7-3 score.
Victoria Smishek picked up the second win between the posts, making 45 saves.
The Panthers return to Patterson Ice Center to begin a season-most six-game homestand starting with a two-game series with Ohio State University Saturday and Sunday. Game one face off is set for 4:45 p.m. while game two is at 10:45 a.m.
