GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport women's hockey team reached a new barrier in their inaugural season Saturday night as seven different Panthers scored, including a hat trick from captain Tara Boliard, to reach double digits to skate past Central Michigan 10-2 in game one of a two-game Central Collegiate Women's Hockey Association series. The Panthers, owners of a five game win streak, brought their record above .500 for the first time, going 5-4-0 on the year.

Darian Adams also had a big performance on the ice, scoring the eventual game-winning goal in the second period while tallying a career-high four assists on the evening. Chantal Caraher continues to rack up points this season, recording a pair of goals and assists to add to her team-leading 23 points.

Caitlin Harrison, who assisted Boliard's first goal of the day, added another assist while scoring a goal herself in the second period.

Both teams played aggressive the first intermission saw two 4-on-4 matchups but it wasn't until the 5:06 mark when Davenport broke the ice. After Caraher's shot was deflected, Monique Daigneault took a backhand shot off the rebound to slide it into the goal.

The Chippewas erased that 1-1 deficit when Emily Hagan brought the puck down the left side and took a shot near the crease to beat Lauren Yomantas at 2:10. The tie didn't last long as the Panthers picked up a pair of goals just before intermission. Lexie Boydston broke the knot with a shot from the left side at 1:09 and Adams slid the puck into the goal with 18.2 seconds left in the period.

Boliard's first goal arrived 1:37 into the second period. Harrison brought the puck down the right side and crossed it to Boliard where she connected a one-touch shot into the open hole in the net. Her second goal came on a power play with a little help from Adams at the 10:05 mark in the period and she would complete the hat trick in the third period with 11:49 left.

Panther netminder Lauren Yomantas made 17 saves to earn her third straight win while her counterpart, Cecilia Anscomb could only stop 32 shots.

Both teams will have short rest as they return to Patterson Ice Center to complete the series Sunday at 10:45 a.m.

Post-Game Quotes – Senior Captain Tara Boliard

On the team's performance since the inaugural game – "I think it's awesome. You can definitely see and feel it. Every practice, you can see us getting more confident in everything we do. I think the first few that we did lose, a lot of us were just getting the barring's and figuring out where to be, what's going on."

On the win streak – "I know DU has a reputation of winning and a lot of us are trying to live up to that, which works because we are doing it right now. We are just waiting to play a little bit tougher teams. I know a lot of us want to redo our first couple games, which we will get to (later in the season).
