Michigan State Closes Women’s Hockey’s Six-Game Homestand This Weekend

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport women's hockey team will put their six-game win streak on the line against Michigan State as the Panthers season-most six-game homestand comes to a close this weekend. The Panthers and Spartans will open their two-game Central Collegiate Women's Hockey Association series Friday at 8:15 p.m. while game two is set for Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Fans can hear Thomas Biondo call the action Friday on the Davenport Athletics Network.

The Davenport Report – 6-4-0, 6-2-0-0 CCWHA
The Panthers continue to collect points during its six-game win streak, scoring 39 goals and notching 42 assists. Altogether, DU has outscored the last three opponents 39-12. Nine different Panthers have scored with Lexie Boydston leading the way with 12 goals. Chantal Caraher's presence has also been felt as she has scored nine goals and tallying 12 assists for 21 points during the run. The combination of Lauren Yomantas and Victoria Smishek have been keeping it clean between the posts during the streak, conceding only 12 goals for a 2.00 goals-against average. Yomantas, who has been playing in goal for the last four contests, has two shutouts on the season.
 
Scouting Michigan State – 4-0-1, 2-0-0-0 CCWHA
The Spartans return to CCWHA play after picking up two non-conference victories at Wisconsin Oct. 19-20. Kelsey Patten had two goals in game two while Kendall Clary scored a goal in each game. Maria Barlow and Julia King each took a game to guard the net against the Badgers. King made didn't concede a goal while making 16 saves in game one while Barlow allowed one in game two but made 15 saves. The Spartans only two CCWHA wins were at home against Ohio State.
