The Davenport Report – 4-0, 0-0 WHAC
Davenport has had to come-from-behind in the second half after entering halftime trailing the last two opponents as the Panthers found themselves in the huge hole in the first half at Cardinal Stritch last Saturday, trailing 18-2 nearly six minutes into the game. Despite trailing 30-28, the Panthers ignited in the latter period by outscoring the Wolves 36-30. Prior to the game against Cardinal Stritch, DU also trailed Northwood (Fla.) 41-38 at halftime before outscoring the Seahawks 56-32 in the second to win the contest 94-73.
WHAC Predicts Davenport to Win Again
Despite losing all five starters from last year's NAIA Division II Tournament runner-up team, including a first-team All-American, the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference head women's basketball coaches agreed that Davenport is still the team to beat and has chosen them to win an eighth consecutive league championship this upcoming season, the conference announced Oct. 16.
A Quick at Marygrove – 2-1, 0-0 WHAC – Head coach Antonio Hitchcock
The Mustangs enter WHAC play after losing to Roosevelt 99-51 in the season opener and won the home-and-home series with Kuyper (95-40 in Detroit and 74-46 in Grand Rapids). Among individual leaders, Kierra Jordan is averaging 11.3 points and six rebounds to pace the team. The Mustangs are still in search of the first win as a member of the WHAC, having joined the league last season with Lawrence Tech.
