GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After a tough loss to crosstown rival Cornerstone on Wednesday the Lady Panthers had to bounce back against conference foe Lourdes. It was a close matchup in the first five minutes, but DU started to run away with the game midway through the first half as Tiesha Stokes had 17 points and eight total rebounds to lead the team to a 96-61 win over Lourdes. The Lady Panthers will be back in action on Tuesday as they host Northwestern Ohio at the DU Student Center at 5:30 p.m.
 
The game opened with a close battle at DU was only up 9-7 at the first media timeout, but after the timeout the team went on a 23-0 run to take a 32-7 lead. Davenport continued to roll as their lead ballooned to 33 points, and they took a 56-24 lead into halftime as TIesha Stokes and Alex Law led the team as they each had each had ten points at the break.
 
Head coach Mike Williams' team defense held Lourdes to 28.6 percent from the field as they held them to just 25 points in the half. On the offensive end the Lady Panthers shot 52.3 percent from the field 33.3 percent from behind the arc.
 
The second half started the same way as the first with Davenport continuing to control the game as the Lady Panthers took their lead up to 42 with 14:13 left in the game. As both teams started to bring their subs in off the bench in the latter part of the game DU took their biggest lead of the game, at 45 points, with 8:08 left in the game. The game ended with Davenport winning by the final score of 96-61. Stokes led the team in points and rebounds with 17 and eight respectively. Law was second on the team in points with 15 and also had four rebounds.
 
For the game the Lady Panthers shot 49.3 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from the behind the arc. The DU defense held Lourdes to 37.9 percent from the field for the game and 35.3 percent from three. DU was out rebounded by the Gray Wolves 43-42.
 
The Panthers will be back in action on Tuesday when the host WHAC foe Northwestern Ohio at 5:30 p.m. at the DU Student Center.
 
Post-Game Notes
 
The Panthers had 58 points in the points and converted on the forced turnovers as they had 47 points off turnovers. Tiesha Stokes has reach double-digit points in her last six games. This is the second time DU has scored 96 points and third time they scored over 90 points.
