GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport saw some serious improvements from last night including keeping GVSU scoreless during the first and second period, while generating some offensive flow but not capitalizing on any goals. The third period saw GVSU getting two quick goals early in which set them on the right path to go on and win 6-0.
The Panthers began game two against GVSU with aggressive defense and strong offensive opportunities, but couldn't seem to be able to find the back of the net. The Panthers saw major improvements from last night and were able to keep the Lakers scoreless throughout the first period.
Period two saw some great saves for
Victoria Smishek who stopped the Laker offensive in their tracks during the second period. GVSU did a good job of keeping the puck out of their zone but DU still had some chances during period two, but neither team could seem to get one to the back of the net.
GVSU was able to capitalize on a goal down in front of Panther net with 16 minutes and 48 seconds in to period three, and again sixteen seconds later putting them up 2-0 with plenty of time in the third. Davenport regained composure but the Lakers added another two goals four minutes later. During the rest of period the Lakers offensive came together to score another two goals to finish the game with a 6-0 win.
