The Davenport Report – 6-1, 2-1 WHAC
The Panthers, who suffered their first loss of the season at Cornerstone last Wednesday, used the home opener to make sure they were not going lose two straight after rolling past Lourdes 96-61 three days later. Davenport has not lost back-to-back games since Feb. 24-March 8, 2007, when it lost to Madonna in the WHAC Tournament championship game followed by to Morningside in the opening round of the national tournament. Junior transfer
Brittany Johnson wasted no time settling into her new home in last Saturday's win over Lourdes. She scored eight points but the highlight of her day was 10 assists, becoming the first Panther to reach double digits in that department this season and the first to do it at home since
Karli Harris (2010-13) notched 12 against Indiana Tech last season.
Defending Our Home Floor
While going 77-4 since the DU Student Center opened in 2008, Davenport has won 22 straight games on its home floor. The last lost at home was to Madonna 71-64 on Feb. 8, 2012. The Panthers went a perfect 18-0 last season.
A Quick at Northwestern Ohio – 5-1, 3-0 WHAC – Head coach Kyle Menchhofer
After suffering a 71-48 defeat at Spring Arbor to start the season, the Racers have been on a roll ever since, winning five straight including three in the WHAC to hold sole possession of first place. Recently, Northwestern Ohio is coming off a 74-69 home win over Lawrence Tech last Wednesday and a 78-66 road victory at Siena Heights Saturday. Rebecca Puckett has been averaging 14.8 points all six games to lead a Racer team that is shooting 43.2 percent from the field. Natalie Billing, while averaging 13.0 points, paces the Racers in rebounds (7.0) while Lauren Hopfner is averaging 13.7 points and a team-leading 4.7 assists.
