SIOUX CITY, Iowa – After christening the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament with a 96-59 win Thursday morning, second-seed Davenport has less than 24 hours to prepare for the second round against an opponent it saw at the start of the season as the Panthers will take on eighth-seed Cardinal Stritch Friday at 9:30 a.m. EST.

The winner of the contest will meet the winner of the No. 1 seed Eastern Oregon and No. 4 Jamestown (N.D.) game in the quarterfinal Saturday at 2 p.m. EST.

Davenport and Cardinal Stritch have met before Friday's game as the two teams opened their respective seasons at Davenport's Student Center in November. Karli Harris had 16 points throughout the game but her heroics late in the second half helped the the Panthers hold the Wolves comeback and win the season opener 78-66. Joining Harris in the double-digit marks were Kayleigh VanKeulen and Emily Nielsen, who collected 10 and 12 points, respectively. While Davenport nailed 27 field goals overall over Cardinal Stritch's 19, the Wolves were able to keep the score close by knocking in 21 of 30 free throws.

The 32-team field is comprised of 21 automatic qualifiers from NAIA affiliated conferences and independents, plus 11 at-large selections, which were determined using the final Top 25 poll released on Wednesday.

Eight teams are appearing in the National Championship for at least the 10th time in school history, led by the 19 appearances made by College of the Ozarks (Mo.). Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) has the second most with 17 trips. Eight schools have qualified for the National Championship for the first time ever: Mayville State (N.D.), Oklahoma Wesleyan, Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), Purdue Calumet (Ind.), Reinhardt (Ga.), Roosevelt (Ill.), Saint Xavier (Ill.) and Siena Heights (Mich.). Olivet Nazarene and Saint Xavier are first year Division II members, have made trips to the Division I National championship.
