Catic’s Historic Day Leads No. 2 Men’s Soccer to Win Over Warriors

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Numerous Davenport men's soccer records were either caught or broke once again by Dzenan Catic.

The NAIA's leading scorer knocked in program record five goals in the span of 29 minutes in the second half to not only help the second-ranked Panthers shutout Indiana Tech 6-0 Saturday night, but also tie his and the school's single-season record of 24 goals and break the point's mark of 53.

Davenport (11-1-0, 4-0-0 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference) never stopped putting pressure on the Warriors (6-4-1, 2-3-0 WHAC) defense throughout the cold night on the Turf Field, outshooting them 38-2 overall, 18-0 on goal.

Tyler Fischer scored the Panthers would only need in the 27th minute. He broke away from midfield and easily beat Indiana Tech keeper Adam Viviano.

The Panthers will make a short drive down the Beltline Wednesday to face crosstown rival Aquinas at 3 p.m.
