Columbus, Ohio. – The Davenport women's hockey team improved to 4-0 on the season as they traveled to Columbus to face Ohio State in a two-game weekend series. The Panthers were lead by goalie
Caitlin Nosanov who posted a shutout in both of Davenport's victories, and tallied a combined 47 saves between the two games. The Panthers will hit the road once again next weekend as they travel to Wisconsin for a two game series.
Game 1 – Davenport 2, Ohio State 0In game one of the weekend series, Davenport got on the board first as
Darian Adams found the back of the net for her first of two goals on the weekend.
Chantal Caraher and
Tara Boliard were credited with assists as the Panthers lead the Buckeyes 1-0 going into the 2
nd intermission.
Laken Kunz added her second goal of the season late in the third period as the Panthers held on for a 2-0 victory.
Game 2 – Davenport 2, Ohio State 0Game two of the series saw very similar results as
Darian Adams scored the first goal of the game again and
Tara Boliard assisted her for the second time
Lexie Boydston put the Buckeyes away with 6 minutes to go in the 3
rd period as she recorded her team-high 6
th goal of the season.
Relentless defense was on display all weekend as the Panthers simply dominated the ice against Ohio State. "After a long bus trip, the game on Saturday was a bit slower paced than were used to, but we were really grinding and got the win." Assistant Coach
Megan Doyen said of her team after Sunday's victory. When asked about Sunday's victory, Megan added: "From the first drop of the puck we were connecting passes and had double the chances we had on Saturday. The majority of the game was played in their zone, as we really moved the puck well. We are pleased with the sweep!"
The Panthers will travel to Madison next weekend as they look to remain unbeaten against the Wisconsin Badgers. Both games will be played on Saturday and Sunday, with Saturday's game starting at 5:30 p.m. and Sundays game starting at 12:15 p.m.
