GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport D2 hockey team is coming off their toughest stretch of the season playing four games in three days at the ACHA Showcase and the team came away with four wins. Head coach Chris Green and his squad will have to refocus for this weekend as they have a home-and-home series against Ferris State. Davenport will start the weekend on Friday night in Big Rapids, Mich. at 8 p.m. before both teams return to Patterson Ice Center on Saturday evening for the Panthers home opener at 4:50 p.m.

Scouting Ferris State
 
Ferris State enters the weekend with a 0-7-0-0 record after being swept by Missouri State at home last weekend. Michael King is leading the team in points with 12 and assists with nine. Alex Johnson is the leading goal scorer for the team with five goals. In goal, head coach Joshua Shields has had three different goaltenders play more than 100 minutes. Ryan Running leads the goalie group with a 5.31 goals against average and a .792 save percentage.
 
The Panthers
 
Through the first four games of the season Donald Sund leads the team with 14 points and has seven goals. Branden Burton leads the team nine assists. The Davenport power play has been hot to start the year tallying nine goals on the power play in the first four games, including five against Utah to close out the showcase. In goal, Tyler Kuehl started three of the first four games compiling a goals against average of 1.00 and a .957 save percentage. In the three games, Kuehl also shutout former ACHA D1 team North Dakota State.
 
The Panthers will have the home opener on Saturday at Patterson Ice Center at 4:50 p.m., but the team will travel up to Big Rapids, Mich. on Friday to kickoff the home-and-home series against Ferris State at 8 p.m.
