Madison, Wisc. – The Davenport women's hockey team traveled to Wisconsin Saturday night to take on Wisconsin University, and posted their third consecutive shutout in a 7-0 victory.
Chantal Caraher fueled the Panthers with her first career hat trick, while
Caitlin Nosanov recorded her third straight shutout. The Panthers and Badgers will see each other again tomorrow afternoon at 12:15 p.m.
Davenport got the game going early as
Darian Adams and
Cynthia Davis fed Caraher for her first of three goals with 7:15 to go in the first period. Adams then posted her fourth goal of the season just two minutes later, followed by
Lexie Boydston adding in her first of two goals on the night.
Caraher's second goal was the lone goal of the second period, as
Tara Boliard and
Cynthia Davis assisted her. Boydston got things going in the third period with her second goal of the game, and
Catie O'Connor joined in on the scoring brigade shortly after, giving her six on the season.
Davenport held the Badgers to just 14 total shots on goals, as Nosanov recorded a save on every one of them. Nosanov is now 4-0 on the season behind the net, and is becoming a crucial aspect to the Panthers' success this season. The Panthers recorded a total of 65 shots of their own on the night.
The Panthers will stay in Madison on Sunday to face Wisconsin for their second game of the weekend series. The puck drops at 12:15 p.m.
