Oxford, Ohio. – The Davenport women's hockey team faced their toughest test of the season thus far as they traveled to Oxford, Ohio to take on the defending national champions of Miami (OH) this past weekend. The Panthers were held scoreless for the first time in both games, and lost by scores of 5-0 and 7-0. The Panthers will get just over a two-week break off of play until they return to the Patterson Ice Center for a home-and-home series with Grand Valley State University on November 14-15.

Game 1

The first game started out with back and forth hockey throughout the entire first period, in which both teams found plenty of shots on goals but neither could find the back of the net. It wasn't until the second period where Miami exploded for five unanswered goals, in which Hayley Williams was responsible for two of those scores. The two teams would be held scoreless again in the third period, as the RedHawks came out victorious with a 5-0. Victory. Caitlin Nosanov got the start for the Panthers, and recorded 45 saves on 50 shots.

Game 2

Game two saw a familiar story as Miami held Davenport scoreless again for the entire game. Hayley Williams tallied up two more scores again, while Kaley Mooney also recorded two goals of her own. Victoria Smishek got the start behind the night for the Panthers, and recorded 41 saves of her own. The Defending champions played up to the potential, and sent Davenport away with their first two losses of the season.

The Panthers will return home to the Patterson Ice Center on November 14, as they will host Grand Valley State in the first game of their home-and-home series. The Panthers will then travel just down the road to play at Grand Valley State on November 15. The Puck drops at 8 p.m. on November 14, and 3:30 p.m. on the 15th.
