GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –
Linnea Brandholm and
Daina Grazulis both scored 16 points as the No. 4 Davenport women's basketball team opened Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play with an 88-74 win over Northwestern Ohio Saturday evening.

Grazulis and
Brittany Johnson also recorded double-doubles on the evening. Grazulis brought down 10 rebounds and Johnson tallied 10 assists.
Tiesha Stokes added 15,
Brittany Johnson finished with 12, and
Shaina Johnson tallied 10 to round out the Panthers in double figures.

Davenport (3-0, 1-0 WHAC) combined for a 55.4 percent (36-for-65) from the field. Brandholm hit four of the Panthers six 3-pointers.

Sammi Dervisevic led the Racers (2-2, 0-1 WHAC) with 19 points, having made five of her six field goals from beyond the arc. Shakeia Salters finished one point behind Dervisevic and Natalie Billing had 11.

Northwestern Ohio had stayed up front for most of the first half thanks to Davenport's mistakes. While the Panthers conceded 13 turnovers in the first half, the Racers collected 16 points off those errors.

The Panthers trailed Northwestern Ohio by as many as six with 9:01 but Brandholm helped ignite a run that allowed Davenport to head into the locker room leading 37-33.

Davenport officially hits the road for the first time this season, only making a short drive up the Beltline to Aquinas Wednesday at 6 p.m.
