Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Davenport women's hockey team saw their losing streak rise to five games as Michigan State beat the Panthers 4-0 this Friday night. The two teams will head to East Lansing for game-two of the home-and-home series, with the puck set to drop at 9:05 a.m.
Both teams came out of the gates with lockdown defense on both sides of the ice, with only nine shots being taken the whole period between the two teams.
The second period saw a more one-sided display has Michigan State scored two goals from Kara Scaturro and Lyndsay Oden, on 11 shots. The goal for Oden gave her a team-high six goals, and now owns has 11 total points on the season.
The Spartans tacked on two more goals in the third period from Hannah Lensing and Natalie Prisciandaro, and went on to blank Davenport by a score of 4-0.
Penalties began to become a factor for Davenport, as they accounted for 7 of the games 11 total. Michigan State was able to capitalize on these mistakes and tallied three separate power play goals.
The Panthers will head to The Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing Sunday morning, with the start time set for 9:05 a.m.
